The Proof Is In The Social Media Pudding

Finally, a study has been done to show the relationship between social media activity and business growth. WebProNews reports:

The “ENGAGEMENTdb study” shows that companies who measured as having “the greatest breadth and depth of social media engagement” grew revenues by 18% over the last year, while the companies that were the least engaged dropped 6% on average.

And what are they calling social media?

  • Blogs
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Discussion Forums
  • Wikis

The study really shows just how important social media engagement really is. Even for a small business. You may not be one of the top 10 corporate brands cited for the study, but that doesn’t mean social media engagement is any less important. If anything, it’s more important. And I wouldn’t wait another day.

This post really doesn’t tell us a whole lot, but it’s good to see that companies are beginning to measure social media’s use in business. It’s only the beginning.
