Small Business Without Paying Them
 

Yes, it’s really possible. You can get other businesses to help advertise and attract attention to your own small business without fronting any costs. Opportunities abound online, and all it takes is dedication and a drive for success to discover how to utilize all of these chances for free exposure to your advantage.

First, what does your small business offer? Is it a product? Is it a specific service? Regardless of the type of business you run, it most likely fits into a pre-existing niche of other businesses and related items on the Internet. When entering the world of small business, you must remember the number one rule of all business: networking is everything.

Take a look through other sites that match up with your company or organization. Everyone needs advertising. If you can discover other online outlets that match your style of selling, work out a trade system. Whether it’s a simple link between your site and another or a banner ad placed at each URL, both sites benefit from increased web traffic.

Even better, perhaps you have a product that can be paired with something from another business. Submit a proposal to the business owner that can help spur his or her own sales, and give them the freedom to include one of your products. Your name appears on another site or in another catalog, receiving recognition from other viewers and readers that helps give your own business a boost.

Other potential sources of free promotion can be found among the blogging community. Much of this relies on you linking a post to another blogger’s business site, but this is a mutual community. If you link, the link is repaid. Increase the other writer’s blog activity with posts about your business that clue readers into your service. While this is indirect promotion, allowing other readers to stumble across your business may be even better than an in-your-face flashing banner advertisement or pop-up bulletin.

Another useful tool to consider is a form of dual promotion known as affiliate programs. While these do cost money, you never pay unless the promotion gives you sales. In short, you can call it profit-based promotion. Commission-based online advertising operates on a system that tracks traffic from site to site. For example, if a banner ad on your friend’s website leads to a sale on your own, a small percentage of this sale is returned to the friend. While similar to the aforementioned style of simple networking, using something like this can be especially attractive to other businesses. While you are giving them a portion of your revenue, this is a nominal fee for receiving sales that would have otherwise passed you by.

Another crucial rule of business: no exposure is small exposure. Instead, be confident that any exposure and promotion provides a chance to grow even larger. This means classified advertisements in both print and online forms. Oftentimes, a post in the classifieds costs nothing.
